Fun Scheduled for Saturday!

My imaginary trip to Vintage Saturday

If I suspend disbelief for a moment and allow myself the imaginary indulgence of pretending that I could come to next Saturday’s Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace show as a customer instead of working, here’s how I might spend it.

I love breakfast, it is one of my three favorite meals. Recently Dan Ripley and I discovered Eggshell- a newish breakfast fav

orite in the City Center Building in Carmel. The food is top notch and the décor could pass for a booth in a great show- think Tolix chairs, great industrial tables and an ever changing menu featuring eggs. I would amble over a breakfast sure to leave a smile on my face, building a solid digestive foundation for a busy day.

While over 100 booths of vintage, antique, artisanal, re & up-cycled goodness will fill the Fountains Conference Center, be sure to make a little time to hit some of Carmel’s other shopping destinations. While Midland Art & Antiques is a participating vendor, make sure to visit their Carmel location, just a few minutes away from the show. The Carmel Old Town Antique mall offers two floors of great stuff in the heart of the Art & Design District. Make sure to take a few minutes to walk and look at the galleries in the area.

After a few hours of exhaustive shopping at the Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace, it is time for another of my favorite meals-lunch. I have never eaten at Bub’s, the local burger joint of renown or have I tried to tackle their legendary 1 Lb Burger. After the large breakfast, while I might not conquer it, there will be valor in the attempt.

After one last quick trip through the show after lunch to pack a few purchases in the car, I think we might hit Shapiro’s in Carmel to get a slice of cheesecake for the long trip home (alright it’s only 6 miles, but I should be prepared in case I get slowed up in the roundabouts).

Since I won’t get the opportunity to have this leisurely day of fun, shopping, food and more shopping, I’ll have to enjoy it vicariously through the customers and vendors. Be sure to plan some additional time and enjoy the show and a few other things our winter home in Carmel has to offer.
